Problematic issues of the state and development of school and adolescent medicine: global trends and challenges

Using the questionnaires developed by the State Institution "IOZDP of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine", an anonymous survey of 26822 adolescents and 38357 of their parents was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic and 2 years of full-scale war in Ukraine. In 2021–2023, 215 doctors who provide medical care to children and adolescents were also surveyed to find ways to improve it. Comparison and generalization of the survey results made it possible to identify the most common emotional reactions of children and adolescents to stressful events, peculiarities of physical activity, nutrition, leisure activities, tendency to bad habits, interest in studying in full-time or distance learning, and the need for health information. The studied international experience of medical care for schoolchildren, as well as the most significant adverse medical and social factors during the COVID-19 pandemic and martial law, will allow us to further identify the leading areas for improving the organization of medical care for school-age children in Ukraine
